Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

When you create an account or register as a player, we collect your name, email address, and any profile information you provide (phone number, photo). Tournament organizers may import player information on your behalf.

2. How we use it

  • To operate your account and display your player profile
  • To send transactional emails (sign-in codes, password resets, registration confirmations)
  • To send tournament notifications (auction alerts, match updates) when you are part of a tournament
  • To link your account to tournament teams and player records

3. Email communications

We send two types of emails:

  • Transactional — sign-in codes, password resets, registration confirmations. These are sent in response to your direct actions and cannot be unsubscribed from while you have an account.
  • Notifications — auction alerts, match updates, tournament results. Every notification email includes an Unsubscribe link. You can also email hello@cricmatters.com to opt out.

4. Mobile apps and push notifications

If you install the CricMatters app for Android or iOS and allow notifications, we store a push notification token for each device, along with whether the device is Android or iOS and when the token was last refreshed. We use these only to deliver the notifications described above — auction alerts, match updates and tournament results.

We do not collect your location, your contacts, your advertising identifier, or any other information from your device. A device’s token is removed when you sign out of the app, turn off notifications, or delete your account.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We use the following categories of third-party service providers to operate CricMatters:

  • Authentication, database and file storage providers — to hold your account, your player records and any photos you upload
  • Hosting, content-delivery and email-delivery providers — to serve the website and app and to send the emails described above
  • Error-monitoring providers — when something in the app breaks, they receive technical details of the error (device and browser type, app version, what went wrong) and a recording of the screen layout with all text masked, so we can fix it. They never receive your password.

These are processors acting on our instructions: they handle data only to provide these services to us, under their own privacy policies and data processing agreements. We will name any of them on request — email us using the address below.

6. Cookies and local storage

We use your browser’s local storage for one thing: keeping you signed in and letting the app work offline where it can. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not track you across other websites or apps.

The cricmatters.com website uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people use — page addresses, rough location from your IP address, and a browser identifier. It is never linked to your player profile and is never used for advertising. The iOS and Android apps do not load analytics at all: nothing about how you use the app is measured or sent anywhere.

7. Where your data is stored and how it is protected

Your data is stored with the cloud providers described in section 5, on servers that may be located outside India. All traffic between your device and CricMatters is encrypted (HTTPS), access to personal data is restricted by server-side security rules, and player contact details are never shown on public pages.

8. Data retention and deleting your account

Your account and player data are retained while your account is active.

You can delete your account yourself at any time from Profile → Delete account, in the app or on the website — the full steps are at cricmatters.com/account-deletion. Deleting your account removes your profile, your notifications and your saved devices, and unlinks you from every team and player record you were connected to.

Scorecards, auction results and other tournament records stay part of the tournament’s history, because they belong to the tournament rather than to your account — but they are no longer linked to you or to your sign-in. If you would like those records removed as well, email us and we will arrange it with the tournament organizer.

9. Younger players

CricMatters is intended for players and organizers aged 13 and over, and accounts should not be created by anyone younger.

Local tournaments sometimes include players under 18. Where an organizer registers a player under 18, the organizer is responsible for obtaining the consent of that player’s parent or guardian before entering their details. A parent or guardian may contact us at any time to see, correct or remove a young player’s information.

10. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time. Contact us at hello@cricmatters.com.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update this page and its date, and for significant changes we will tell you by email or an in-app notice.
